What are the rules for renting a car in New Zealand with Enterprise?

To rent a car in New Zealand with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, we have the following requirements:

1. Be a minimum of 21 years of age.
2. Provide a full, valid driver’s licence that you have held for a minimum of 12 months. Overseas or international driver’s licence must be in English or be supplied with an official NZTA approved English translation. 
3. A valid credit or debit card in the hirers name must be presented at pick up. Cash is not accepted for any payments or bond.

It's natural to feel a little intimidated if it’s your first time driving a minivan. That’s why we made this quick guide to help you feel more confident on the roads while driving a people carrier. 

Here are a few tips to remember while driving a minivan:

• Leave more space: Due to the additional weight, a minivan takes more time to slow down or turn than a typical sedan. Leave plenty of space between yourself and other vehicles, and be sure to take corners slowly. 
• Check your height: Remember that you are in a higher vehicle than you may be used to. Before heading out, check to see if there are height-restricted paths on your route, and plan alternative paths when needed. 
• Be mindful of your blind spot: Minivans and minibuses have a bigger blind spot than a standard vehicle. Remind yourself to use your mirrors to check your blind spots more frequently than you typically would. 
• Check the controls: Some controls and features may not be familiar to you. Before you start driving, familiarising yourself with the controls can help you feel more confident and relaxed while driving.
